I am a product junkie. Makeup, lotions, eye creams, hair serums, perfume, you name it. My bathroom is cluttered with them (sorry, Dr. G.) But I can’t help it – I walk into stores like Sephora and I’m like a kid in a candy shop.
But now I’ve been finding myself stockpiling products for the kiddos, even though they couldn’t care less. As a result, their bathroom (and Mimi’s changing table) are chock full of diaper creams and baby powders and shampoo.
I usually purchase their bath soaps and lotions at the drugstore, mostly out of time and convenience. However, it bugs me that your options are usually limited to a few major manufacturers, and you’re lucky to find one product labeled “natural.”
I try to be a good label reader, particularly when it comes to products I’m using on my kids, but sometimes I get lazy. However, I know I should pay more attention, since Buddy has had pretty bad eczema on and off over the years that is sometimes worsened by certain products.
Also, experts say up to 60% of your skincare products are absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream, which is a little scary.
So it’s for all these reasons that I was intrigued to try some of the products carried by Ayla Beauty. Ayla was started by a fellow product-obsessed gal, and they handpick the best of the best products that work (usually made by smaller brands that are passionate about what they do) and, most importantly, do not contain any preservatives, dyes, chemicals or animal ingredients.
When I opened my package, it was the best of both worlds: Kimberly Parry Organics Essentials for Baby kit (baby powder and bum butter) for Miss Mimi and Kimberly’s incredible organic body butter for me.
Let’s start with Mimi’s products. The powder is 100% talc-free, so it’s slightly grittier than your typical white baby powder, which I admit took some getting used to. But the smell! I am a sucker for anything lavender and this has a lovely, but light, lavender scent.
I had read rave reviews about the bum butter online, and they were totally right. Mimi had a pretty bad case of diaper rash a few weeks ago (teething-related, I believe), so before she went to bed, I lathered her up with the bum butter, and she woke up in the morning looking like a new girl. Again, the consistency is not like your goopy, drugstore-brand diaper cream, but it more like a balm and had a really pleasant smell (reminds me of Aveda products). Bonus? It also contains naturally antibacterial, anti-inflammatory ingredients, which could explain how her diaper rash improved so quickly.
As for me, I fell in love with the sunflower and olive body butter, plain and simple.
And now for the good stuff. I am so excited to be able to share these awesome products with you! I am running two different giveaways: one for a 4oz tub of organic body butter for you ladies and one for an Essential Baby Kit, containing 3.75 oz container of Baby Powder and 1 oz Bum Butter, along with a super-soft organic bamboo washcloth and a rubber ducky (free of PVC, BpA and phthalates, of course), packaged together in a mesh drawstring bag. Feel free to enter both giveaways if you want! Your skin will thank you. (Also, the Baby Kit would also be a really thoughtful baby shower gift! Just sayin’ …)
Please use the Rafflecopters below to enter. Make sure you enter the necessary information, and consider the optional extra entries, which increase your chances of winning. These giveaways are open to U.S. residents only. The winners will be randomly chosen by Rafflecopter and will be contacted by email within 24 hours of the conclusion of the giveaway. I used to get teased for always putting on lotion after my showers in college. Recently at a reunion – someone actually asked me if I still do that! I DO! π
The body butter sounds terrific!
