Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but I’m soooo ready for the weekend, especially now that I’ve been sidelined by a nasty head cold. Blecccch.
Truthfully, we’ve been very fortunate this long, cold winter to have avoided the awful stomach flus and other nasties that have been going around. But I still get to complain about feeling icky, right? I was supposed to join Lauryn and some of her friends for a 9-mile run on Saturday, and I’m afraid I’m going to have to bail. Boo.
But the week hasn’t been all bad. Check out some of my five favorite Instagram moments from the week (or come follow me on Instagram in real-time!)
1. It’s interesting how shopping centers are moving away from the enclosed malls of my youth to more of an outdoor, town center sort of approach. On Tuesday, I finally made my way to one such place — University Station in Westwood (about 25 min outside Boston), a 2-million square foot mixed use property. It’s anchored by Target and Wegman’s and includes a mix of large and small stores and restaurants, plus luxury apartments, a health club, etc. Thanks to the gang at University Station for a special goodie bag, complements of stores like Nordstrom Rack, Charming Charlie’s, Michael’s, Wegman’s, Sports Authority, Panera Bread, and others.
2. So the reason I was checking out University Station was to attend a special sneak peek at Smashburger. Not familar with Smashburger? It’s a fast, causal burger restaurant chain where every burger, every sandwich, is “smashed” and made fresh to order
Yes, I know, this vegetarian attended the opening of a burger joint. And while it’s true I wasn’t able to try most of the burgers and chicken sandwiches the team brought out for us, I was able to dig in to a mean veggie burger, plus various kinds of french fries and, most importantly, fried pickles. YUM. I also thoroughly enjoyed two of their shakes: PB&J (delicious) and Oreo. Thank God they were only in little shot-sized portions or I would have gobbled them both.
3. Speaking of being a vegetarian, I am still a sucker for anything involving a “lobstah”. It’s the New England girl in me. So I’m excited to check out the Lazy Lobster 10-Mile Race out in the Boston ‘burbs in July. I mean, how can I NOT register for a race called “Lazy Lobster”?
4. Our basement reno is coming along sllloooowly. Most of the major construction has been done and I spent all last weekend paining the walls (color is Silver Marlin by Benjamin Moore). I honestly don’t mind painting; I find it rather therapeutic, and while I was working, I finished up my audiobook (The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty) and some random Pandora channels. Next up is the floor (Dr. G. is installing faux hardwood panels) and figuring out what we’re doing with the stairs.
5. I totally misread number 5 on Buddy’s homework the other night. Ha!
Wishing you all a wonderful Passover/Easter weekend! My plan is to stay away from the jellybeans (my Kryptonite). What’s your holiday weakness?

Cadbury mini eggs, they are so amazing! they are like m&m’s but a million times better. I have already succumbed to three mini bags but trying to not go back to the store for more. I’m grateful for this great weather to run in and burn off these things!
