If you have kids, you have a mess. Somewhere. Maybe it’s in your house or in your car. Maybe it involves cookie crumbs or magic marker on the wall or sticky Popsicle hands (which are usually grasping the ends of your white linen curtains, right?).
I’ll come right out and say it: I’m not a neat freak by any means. As I’ve written before, my childhood nickname was “Messy Jessie.” But that doesn’t mean I necessarily like messes. However, over the years I’ve realized that there’s really no way to avoid them; messes are a fact of life. You just have to have a game plan to deal with them. For example:
- ALWAYS keep the following items in the backseat of your car: paper towels, Wet Ones® wipes and plastic shopping bags. This comes in handy for everything, like car sick kids, exploding juice boxes, runny noses, half-eaten yogurt tubes and dozens of other unexpected (and usually gross) messes.
- If you are going to buy your children markers, then please, buy the washable kind. Trust me. I thanked my lucky stars for this on Sunday when I noticed Mimi had colored the table in their playroom with a purple marker … and decorated herself, too. Oh, and this also came in handy when Buddy decided a few weeks ago to “paint” his toenails the colors of the rainbow.
I know I’m not the only battle-tested mom out there who has suggestions for dealing with (literally) sticky situations. That’s why Wet Ones® is asking all parents to share their best tips through their new Facebook Contest! Simply log on and share your most helpful, funniest or creative ways you deal with all of your ‘sticky situations.” Your ideas could be included in an e-book distributed by Wet Ones® Hand Wipes in 2013.
The submission with the most votes will win the grand prize, an iPad Mini (valued at $300), and 3 runners up will receive a prize pack of 4 tickets to Six Flags!
I just entered, it doesn’t take long at all. Here’s the link (which I found I could view better on my desktop computer, rather than my iPhone, but that might have just been me). The contest ends on December 28, 2012 at 9:59 pm EST.
Oh, and if you want to vote for my two tips listed above (because winning an iPad mini would be pretty awesome), my submission is titled, “The Legend of Messy Jessie.”
Tell me: What is your top tip for dealing with a sticky situation?
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Wet Ones. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
