I’ll offer the same caveat with my gift guide for girls as I did for the boys guide. Mimi is 18 months old (in a week) and pretty much every little girl we have to buy for is under the age of 5, so most of these items are geared towards younger girls … think toddler to kindergarten. And, to be honest, some of the toys I have seen for older girls are a little disturbing (see “Sweet Talking Ken” and “The Stylin’ Studio“). And don’t get me started on the Disney Princess Broom & Dust Pan Set or the Cleaning Trolley (which, sadly, are meant for girls closer to Mimi’s age).
Shiver. Gag.
Anyway, switching gears … here are my top picks for younger girls this holiday season:
Melissa & Doug Pretty Purse Fill and Spill: Mimi received this and is in heaven.
American Apparel Kids Helvetica Alphabet Fine Jersey Short Sleeve T: How stinkin’ cute is this? I guess I have a thing for monograms and initials.
Bottom Row (L-R):
Know anyone planning their first Disney trip? (cough cough). This adorable T-shirt from the Etsy boutique It’s Sew Me would make a great gift. Hmmm ….
Pottery Barn Kids Nursery Critter Wraps (pictured here) or Animal Bath Wraps (for older girls). Kids + animals = cuteness.
Melissa & Doug Veterinarian Role Play Costume Set: Both my kids enjoy playing dress up, and this costume set gets a lot of use here at my house.
Shrinky Dinks Fairy Garden: Yessss! Shrinky Dinks are back! I can’t wait for Mimi to be old enough for these.
Bottom Row (L-R):
My Very Own Name Book: This is hands-down my favorite gift to give to friends or family members who have had a baby; both Buddy and Mimi received these are newborns and they’re still some of our favorite books to read. But these make an excellent and thoughtful gift at any age. They also have other stories that can also be personalized (My Very Own Fairy Tale, My Very Own Pirate’s Tale, etc).
Pacific Play Tents Cottage House Tent: Every girl needs her own fort, right? Sometimes I wish I had one.
