I am one of those people who craves something sweet after dinner — a cookie, a piece of candy, you name it. I’m sure the craving is part mental and part physical (and maybe a slight sugar addiction).
Normally, I’m active enough that having a little dessert isn’t that big of a deal. Unfortunately, this has not been the case lately, as I haven’t been running as much, I’ve been stuck inside the house during this dreadful winter, and — as a result — I’ve been struggling to lose those stubborn 5-10 lbs I gained over the holidays. Grrrrr.
But that need to satisfy my sweet tooth on something yummy that isn’t five gazillion calories is just one of the reasons I love Stonyfield’s Frozen Yogurt Pearls.
Seriously, these are ingenious. They’re basically bonbon or munchkin-sized scoops of Stonyfield’s organic frozen yogurt wrapped in a yummy, all natural (and melt-free!) fruit coating, similar to the skin of a grape.
This skin (for lack of a better word) protects the yogurt, allowing you to wash and carry it without damaging it. And for my eco-friendly readers out there, note that this is a giant step towards a truly sustainable package (by the way, it was also named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 25 Inventions of 2014).
So basically, it’s like a portable, mess-free, on-the-go frozen treat. Just grab from the freezer and enjoy, no spoon necessary.
Oh, did I mention that each Pearl is 20 calories? And since each package contains two Pearls, it’s a delicious, low-cal, portion-controlled treat.
Check out the yummy flavor combos:
- Peach (shell) & Vanilla (yogurt)
- Coconut (shell) & Chocolate (yogurt) –> my favorite
- Strawberry (shell) & Vanilla (yogurt)
- Strawberry (shell) & Chocolate (yogurt) –> the kiddos’ favorite
Stonyfield Frozen Yogurt Pearls now available across New England at Whole Foods Market (except in the Providence store — sorry, RI peeps) and are located in the freezer aisle at $3.99 for two. Hopefully they’ll expand to more stores soon!!
