I love fall fashion. Riding boots, jeans, sweaters, scarves … I always get a little giddy when I break these goodies out of the closet as soon as the leaves start to turn.
But I do have a confession to make: I’ve had ulterior motives when looking for items to add to my fall wardrobe. Why, you ask?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
We’re going to London in a few weeks!
It’s a quick four-day getaway — just Dr. G and me!! — to meet up with friends (more to come on that). Of course, as soon as the airline tickets were secured, I naturally began planning out my outfits and thinking about what to wear, what to pack, what to travel in.
Around the same time we were making our travel plans, I had the opportunity to put together an outfit from J. Jill’s Pure Jill fall line.
Talk about good timing (or fate) because the collection is focused on style and comfort with unstructured, uncomplicated, and timeless silhouettes with special details such as interesting textures and natural fabrics. In fact, Pure Jill designer Barbara Patin says “Pure Jill is perfectly imperfect elegance, comfortable, comforting, and confident.”
Now if that doesn’t sound like perfect travel — and general weekend — wear, then I don’t know what does.
This was actually my first time shopping at J. Jill, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I went online to the fall Pure Jill collection and immediately zeroed in on a soft and cozy open gray cardigan, plush infinity gray scarf and black ballet sleeve cotton tunic, knowing right away that I could pair them with my black stretchy leggings and riding boots for one stylish yet comfy outfit that I can wear straight from a red-eye flight to a bit of morning sightseeing across the pond.
Okay, it may not be the most colorful outfit, but I loved how I felt so comfortable yet effortlessly stylish. It was like wearing my sweats … but a heck of a lot nicer. And cuter.
Now THIS is something I can see myself wearing for five hours on a plane, or playing chauffeur to my kids on weekend.
I love how these pieces are all neutrals, so I’ll be able to mix and match them with the majority of items in my wardrobe. The cardigan is something I could also wear to work, or with jeans (see below). The scarf goes with everything (and is so warm and cozy I may want to wear it every day this fall and winter), and the tunic (which works with leggings because it’s long enough to cover the tush) can also be paired with skinny jeans or maybe even as a dress with some tights.
I was also seriously contemplating this Pure Jill luxe cardigan, and only decided against it because I have something similar, but I was really tempted, since it’s one of my favorite silhouettes. And these Born for Pure Jill ankle boots caught my eyes, too.
But I’m happy with my items and can’t wait to wrap myself in all this comfiness in a few weeks as I board the plane!
Guess what? You can get 30% off any full-priced item from the Pure Jill collection through November 30, 2014, with the code MOPJ30. Happy shopping!
