And here we are. One week until the first day of school.
Honestly? Buddy NEEDS school. It happens every year during that last week of summer vacation. And it’s not because he doesn’t like school, because he does. Who knows, maybe it’s the culmination of 10 weeks of an upended schedule, but all I know is that his behavior always nosedives just before school is ready to resume.
Dr. G. and I each took a few days off this week to give Buddy a break between summer camp and school, and I have Monday through Wednesday (perfect for me, since I’m still pooped from our 24 hours at Great Wolf Lodge … more to come on that later this week). Today’s ugly weather forecast means movies and a little back-to-school shopping for us, which is always better than sitting in my office.
I have a feeling there may also be some Netflix on the agenda, too!
Lucky for me, Buddy has always had a preference for educational, science-related or nonfiction shows (go ahead, you can roll your eyes now ;>). Here are some of his current faves…perfect for making the switch from the beach to the classroom.
Given his love of geography, he’s also pretty curious about this show, How States Got Their Shapes, which has apparently been on for a few seasons and combines history, politics and geography to show how states got their current borders.
Have your kids returned to school yet?
