With a nearly 5 year age gap, it can be reeeeaalllly challenging finding a TV show or movie that is appropriate for an almost-9-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. It’s either “too babyish” or “too advanced” or “too much a ‘boy show'” or “too much a ‘girl show'”.
You get the idea.
So trust me when I say it’s rare to find something they’re both excited about watching without either one having to compromise.
Enter Netflix’s new original series, Dragons: Race to the Edge, featuring Hiccup and Toothless, from the critically acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon films.
In the series, Hiccup, Toothless and their friends team up to explore strange new worlds, seek out never-before-seen dragons, and end the war between Vikings and dragons for good.
The kiddos LOVE it. They sit there, side-by-side, on their bean bags chairs, engrossed in the story. And better yet? There’s no arguing!
Here’s a sneak peek:
So that’s what the kiddos are currently watching. The adults, on the other hand (well, mostly me), are SO EXCITED (yes, I used all caps but it’s totally warranted) for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp to premiere on Netflix next month! It’s only going to be 8 episodes, but if it’s anything like the 2001 movie (the show is a prequel), I know it will be hysterical.
I mean, how could it not, since stars all.the.awesome.people. (Seriously, check IMDB. It’s a who’s-who of some of the funniest actors/actresses). Can’t wait!
P.S. And if you haven’t seen the original movie yet, it’s available on (surprise) Netflix.
