You guys know how obsessed I am with activewear, right? Well, I found a new favorite line from kind of an unexpected place. Land’s End.
I admit I’ve never purchased any clothes for me from Land’s End, but they are my go-to for the kiddos, especially when it comes to winter and rain jackets, backpacks and lunch boxes. Oh, and we LOVE their monogrammed canvas tote bags (perfect for weekend getaways).
But workout gear? Hmmm, I was definitely a little skeptical.
Until I tried this hoodie from the Land’s End Women’s Performance Collection, and I fell in love. Head-over-heels in love.
It is warm and fleecy inside. It has a high neck that makes it perfect for keeping warm while running outdoors. And, most important, it had thumbholes. Yay for thumbholes! And it’s got more of a slim fit and it surprisingly flattering.
Since it has been so frigid here in New England lately, I haven’t had a chance to test it out on an outdoors run, but it’s become my go-to hoodie when I go to the gym in the morning as well as for lounging around the house on the weekend. I may even have slept in it one chilly night.
Another favorite product is this super cute colorblock tank top. I was definitely a little uncertain when I first pulled it out of the bag. It looked a little big, and a little long.
But I have to say: I am totally digging the length and the fit. It’s perfect for running with those tighter capris that sometimes make you feel like you’re showing off your goods for all the world to see (you ladies know what I’m talking about).
I wore it on an early morning treadmill run yesterday and it was great. Loose but not flowing with a good amount of stretch. It’s also moisture-wicking and (if this darn snow ever goes away)has built-in UV protection.
Oh, and did I mention that it’s cute?
One other product I am surprised to find I like so much is this short-sleeved print performance crewneck tee.
It is totally not something I would normally wear to the gym, but is something I can definitely see myself wearing when we go on our family hikes or bike rides in the summer, since it’s a cute AND functional shirt that you can also feel comfortable wearing if we stop for ice cream or something on the way home. The fit seems to be very similar to the colorblock tank (which I think could also very easily go from the gym to running errands).
One cool thing about the line is that it is totally mix-and-match, perfect for busy moms on-the-go, since all the bottoms are solid neutrals and the tops — while colorful — are all in the same couple of color palettes. I really want to try their Performance Slim Pants (gotta love a wide waistband!). Hmmm, maybe a nice Valentine’s Day present to myself?
One common thread for all of these products is quality; you can definitely tell they are very well-made. Then again, this is not surprising for Land’s End; Buddy has had his Land’s End winter jacket for two years now! And the prices are completely reasonable, too.
These are just a few of my favorite pieces, but you can shop the entire Land’s End Performance Collection online, or in their catalogs. Just one note: You may want to size down, depending on how you like your workout gear to fit (I know some people prefer a snugger fit).
Disclaimer: I received several items from the new Land’s End Performance line to facilitate my review but all opinions and text are, as always, my own.
