Yesterday, we successfully hosted 8 adults (not including us), 10 kids and 2 dogs for Canadian Thanksgiving dinner (click here for the background on this annual tradition). Thankfully, we did not experience any of the following: meltdowns, tantrums, massive spills or injuries (a first!). And, even more surprisingly, there were only minor incidents of tears, arguing or vegetarians gagging over the giblet removal. I equate most of this to one very important decision.
We kicked the big kids down to the basement.
Um, why haven’t we done this before? It was a win-win: the kids loved having their own hangout (“Get out, get out!” they’d scream when one of us would go down to check on them) and we adults were able to enjoy our dinner and drink our wine in relative peace (although I did sneak the baby monitor down there so we could eavesdrop on them; trust me, we heard some interesting conversations).
And after dinner, it was (obviously) time for a movie, so then we were treated to this:
Ahhh … again, why haven’t we done this before?
Anyway, here’s a brief photo recap of Dr. G’s 17th annual Canadian Thanksgiving celebration.

Dogs + turkey dinner = much sleepiness
And last, but not least …
We’re off to a corn maze today to walk off the thousands and thousands of calories we (very happily) ate – and drank – yesterday, then it’s all about race-preparation mode for tomorrow’s Tufts 10K. Fingers crossed for a good race tomorrow – I love knowing I’ll have my fan club/cheerleaders/pit crew with me 🙂
Happy Sunday!
