Two half marathons. A couple 10Ks. One ten-miler. A handful of 5Ks. And my first time running two races in one morning.
That about sums up my 2014 racing schedule.
I always find it rather exhilarating to plan out my race schedule. Why? Because I love looking at the year ahead and knowing that the possibilities are endless. That there are PRs out there for grabs, new challenges to overcome and victories to celebrate.
And as most of you know, I am kind of a planner (ahem), so I love having a road map for the year to work around … and work toward.
This is kind of a fun year for me. I have a mix of distances I’m comfortable with (5K and 10K) and distances I’m looking to PR in (sub-2:00 half marathon), plus a new race distance (10 miles) and a new race challenge (a 5K and 10K in the same morning). I’m sure I’ll be adding a few 5Ks or so and tinkering with it along the way, and I haven’t made any official decisions on my fall races or if I’ll try to tackle an obstacle course later in the year, but here’s a look at my 2014 racing schedule to date:
