It’s no secret that we are a family of baseball lovers around here … and fervent Red Sox fans, no less. (Remember our amazing trip to Fenway Park last summer?)
So I’m not sure who was more excited when I was asked a few weeks ago to join the #RedSoxFamily as a member of the inaugural Red Sox Moms Club!
The goal for the #RedSoxMoms program is to share the events, information and activities happening within the Red Sox organization with you throughout the 2014 baseball season. I didn’t hesitate for a second before jumping on board!
FenwaYoga
So here’s one cool event I wanted to share with you. The Red Sox Foundation is teaming up with KIND Healthy Snacks, Poland Spring and jetBlue to hold a special yoga session at Fenway Park on Sunday, June 8th. Yes, yoga at Fenway (or FenwaYoga, as they’re calling it. Clever, right?)
The sessions will be led by celebrity yoga and fitness instructor Mandy Ingber (Jennifer Aniston is a client. Um, say no more.) and each class will accommodate 222 participants along the warning track. The classes — one at 9 a.m. and one at 10:30 a.m. — are geared towards all levels of experience.
A group of #RedSoxMoms got a sneak preview a few weeks ago (a work commitment preventing me from attending) and I’m so disappointed to have missed it!
Each registered participant must commit to the $250 fundraising minimum, and all proceeds will benefit the Red Sox Foundation’s Red Sox Scholars (a college scholarship program) and RBI Youth Baseball & Softball Programs, which aims to revive baseball in the inner city and use the sport to promote healthy choices and valuable life skills, such as non-violent conflict resolution.
This second program is near and dear to my heart, as someone who played organized sports growing up and who now has a child who is fully entrenched in the world of baseball and local sports leagues. It’s amazing to see the impact Buddy’s involvement in sports has had on him in terms of confidence and leadership skills, and it’s heartwarming how our town supports and rallies around our sports teams. This is an experience I hope all kids with an interest in sports can experience, no matter where they live.
If you’re interested, please click here to register and use the code REDSOXMOM (case sensitive) to receive $10 off the registration fee!
Don’t forget your yoga mat!

Out of the Park
The Red Sox, in partnership with the Highland Street Foundation, plan to bring the Fenway experience to local parks around the city, transporting the sights, sounds and tastes of the big game to locals free of charge!
Each “Out of the Park” event will feature a live viewing of a Red Sox away game, broadcast by the New England Sports Network (NESN) on a massive big screen with cut-ins by a live game announcer. The events will also include many of the elements and amenities that are synonymous with Fenway Park and Yawkey Way during home games, such as caricaturists, balloon artists, face painters, giveaways, free popcorn, ice cream by Hood, and Kayem’s famous Fenway Franks. Mascot Wally the Green Monster (a popular guy around my house), Fenway Park DJ TJ Connelly and the Hot Tamales Brass Band will also make special appearances.
Mark your calendars! The next event will take place on Sunday, June 22 4:05 p.m. at Franklin Park in Dorchester (Red Sox vs. Athletics), and the final “Out of the Park” event will happen on Sunday, July 27 1:40 p.m., right on the Boston Common (Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays).
Click here for more info and keep in mind these events may be canceled or rescheduled if there is inclement weather.
