Okay, guys, I’m pretty excited about this!
I’ve run the Newport 10 Miler in Newport, RI the last two years and it has become one of my favorite races. (Check out my 2014 and 2015 recaps.)
Why do I love it? Well, for starters, there are the ocean views.
And running down famed Bellevue Avenue, past many of Newport’s historic and awe-inspiring mansions.
And running through the entrance into historic Ft. Adams to the finish line.
And, of course, the beer garden with free Harpoon drafts for all participants.
Here’s an overview of the course, so you can see it follows the coast for most of it. And you can check out a video of the race course here!
As far as difficulty goes, it’s a relatively flat course but there is a bit of a hill between miles 8-9 that can be a killer. Just know about it going into it. (You’ll see it reflected on this elevation map). And while it’s a little crowded at the beginning, it does thin out pretty quickly, probably because the race is capped at 3,000 registrants.
And new this year are finisher’s medals (yea!), tech tees (double yea!), and free photos from Gameface Media.
So now on to the good stuff. Thanks to the fabulous Newport 10 Miler race organizers, I have one FREE entry to give away to a KMS reader!
Awesome, right?!
Before you enter, please make note of these important details…
- Race day is June 5, 2016 at 7:30am (yes, it’s early). So make sure you are free that day before entering!
- Also, the traffic getting there (Newport=one lane roads) and parking (because there’s only one entrance to Ft. Adams) can be a beast, so you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to get there (something we learned the hard way last year).
- This race sells out every year and is already 2/3 full, so if you are the lucky winner, then you will want to sign up as soon as you get the code!
That’s why I have a quick turnaround on this. This giveaway will end next Thursday, Feb. 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. You can enter via the form below. Good luck!

I LOVE 10 milers, way more than 10K’s for some reason. This one looks like fun!

The Newport Half was my first half marathon. Newport is also the first place my husband and I went on vacation. I love this town and would love to do another race there!
