Raise your hand if you have a dogeared copy of What to Expect When You’re Expecting on your bookshelf. [Raises hand]. I remember pouring over that book when I was pregnant with Buddy (and again nearly five years later when I was pregnant with Mimi, since I had forgotten everything by that time), alternating between amazement (my baby is the size of a lentil!) and horror (peeing when you sneeze! colostrum!).
As a fan of the What to Expect series, I am thrilled to be guest posting over on their “Word of Mom” blog. “Word of Mom” is a place for ideas, insights, mom-to-mom (and dad-to-dad) wisdom, and most of all, unconditional support, from those who’ve been there, done that, lived to tell about it…and tell it like it is.
Actually, it was that blog tagline that inspired the topic of my guest post. I started thinking about my friends who have helped me along this roller coaster of a ride called parenthood. These women — some who are moms, and some who are not — continue to share in my triumphs, support me during the tough times, offer sage advice, make me laugh, and help keep me sane and balanced.
So come visit the What to Expect “Word of Mom” blog and let me know here in the comments how your girlfriends have helped you adjust and transition to motherhood.
