Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Did anyone else see this hysterical piece on Buzzfeed about 75 Thoughts Every Runner Has While Out for a Run? So. Funny. And, in many cases, so true (at least for me).
Okay, so while my mostly post-run musings aren’t nearly as witty or entertaining, I wanted to share some highlights of yesterday’s long run:
1. You know your running gear is truly made of wicking material when you realize one of the water bottles on your fuel belt leaked the entire 11 miles, completely soaking your shirt, and you had no idea.
2. It is amazing the amount of random and disgusting items you see laying on the side of the road (tampon applicator…really?)
3. Number of times I had to suddenly hop onto the side of the road (or someone’s front yard) to avoid a crazy driver speeding around country roads: 5
4. I am loving the Clif Shot Gel cherry chocolate flavor.
5. And the watermelon flavor of Nuun. But not together.
6. Ever drive on the highway and see a sign for your destination (Boston: 10 Miles) and think, Holy crap, I can actually run that distance??
7. I hate hills. But you can’t deny the impact they have on your training. Even after incorporating hills for a few weeks, I can totally notice a difference.
8. I realized I tend to plan my work wardrobe for the week during my long runs. Random.
9. I am getting sooo close to the pace I need to be at to get that sub-2:00 half marathon time next month! But overall I’m pretty encouraged by yesterday’s time, considering this run had some longer and steeper hills compared to what I’ll face in Boston next month.
10. My splits and elevation … hmmm, I definitely notice a correlation! Although I’m still pretty impressed by mile 9!
What are some of the random thoughts that go through your head when you’re out running?
P.S. I’m taking a two week hiatus from meal planning … our schedules for the next two weeks are so insane that I don’t even think I’d be able to fill out a weekly meal plan. Arrrgggh. Oh well, I guess that’s real life for you, right?

I saw someone’s fake hair piece on the sidewalk a few weeks ago. And the amount of banana peels I see is always surprising.
I think you will totally make your time goal…you are always a little quicker on the day of a race when you have all that adrenaline and energy from the race. Best of luck!
