It’s so good to be home!
While I enjoy visiting with my in-laws, I don’t always eat the healthiest when we’re down there. From fast food dinners on the drive down (plus pilfered Halloween candy, to ease the stress of a horrible 9-hour drive) to a pancake brunch to, oh yeah, Thanksgiving, I definitely veered a little off course this week, which is okay, since it’s kind of a once-a-year sort of thing. But I definitely feel a little lethargic (and bloated) today and I have to say I’m really looking forward to going back to my normal eating habits this week.
Which brings me to this week’s meal and workout planning.
Of course, nothing is that easy. Dr. G. has an overnight work trip planned this week, which I have to take into account. Also, we just returned today from Pennsylvania and cooking is really the last thing I feel like doing. All I want to eat is a big, leafy green salad.
I’m proud that I managed to sneak in a couple of extremely hilly runs while we were in Pennsylvania, but it will be nice to return to my old routine (shocking, I know). Here’s what I have planned this week:
Sunday: Absolutely nothing!
Monday: Body Pump @ 5am
Tuesday: 4-5 mi run @ 5am
Wednesday: Sworkit circuit training in basement in AM, since Dr. G. is traveling
Thursday: Ellipical workout in basement in AM
Friday: Boot camp @ 5am
Saturday: Nothing – heading to New Jersey
I’m curious: I think most of us probably overindulged a bit last week. Do you make peace with it (since it’s a holiday, it’s not how you normally eat, etc.) or do you give yourself a hard time? Honestly, I waver between the two.

I didn’t really indulge very much and when I did I didn’t give myself a hard time. That was a nice change of pace. Bring on Christmas ๐
I love Body Pump!

I definitely indulged as well! I used to give myself a hard time, but I don’t any longer… as long as I’m still getting exercise in, I feel like it’s no big deal once or twice a year, like you said. But I don’t like that bloated feeling either and am also much less interested in cooking this week!

It’s hard, especially when you have kids, to always say “no” when they want to share a yummy treat with you. That’s why I’ve tried to make peace with it all, but there’s still that nagging little voice in the back of my head.
