Happy Sunday! Sorry for the meal planning hiatus last week. I wish I had more exciting reasons why I skipped it, but truthfully, I just wasn’t feeling it last week. Also, it was such a crazy week for us, schedule-wise, that the whole plan would have consisted of TBDs and “Single Mom Pizza and Wine Nights.“
But I’m back at it this week, and revisiting a bunch of old faves!
Meal Plan
Sunday: Green lentil soup from Heidi Swanson’s Super Natural Everyday
Monday: It’s Red Sox Opening Day! That calls for a baseball-inspired dinner, including hot dogs (vegan for me), carrot “fries,” onion rings and — of course — Cracker Jacks for dessert!
Tuesday: Crispy chickpea and caper spaghetti with sauteed spinach
Wednesday: Garlicky spinach, millet and eggs via Naturally Ella (although I may sub in wheatberries for millet)
Thursday: Veggie burgers and roasted cauliflower
Friday: TBD
Saturday: TBD (Depends on our plans)
Workout Plan
Ugh, so my plan called for a 10-miler today but I woke up with a horrible head cold and my piriformis issue has been acting up again and my gut instinct is telling me to lay low today. But the Type A in me is freaking out, since I hate going off the training plan and I know I am going to miss my long run in two weeks during my 36-hour whirlwind girls weekend in Chicago.
What to do, what to do.
So here’s the tentative plan for the week … about 4 weeks to my next major race (Newport 10-Miler) and 8 weeks to my half marathon!
Sunday: ??????
Monday: Rest/Body Pump/run (depending on what happens today)
Tuesday: Hill workout on treadmill at lunch
Wednesday: Body Pump
Thursday: 5 mile moderate run
Saturday: Yoga (which I haven’t been to in ages)
What do you do when sickness derails your training plan?

I missed my long run last week becuase i felt junky :(. I dont usually miss, but i felt that horrible. Sometimes you just need to let your body heal. I am getting ready for the newport 10 miler and the blackstone vally half the week after. Eeekkk. Hopefully not taking on too much. We will see how on feel on may 5th 🙂

If you’re hurting, definitely listen to your gut. A few days off could help you feel better but pushing through could lead to weeks off if you make it worse!

Aw I love the baseball themed dinner, such a cute idea, especially the healthy version! I had a looong bout of sickness in January and February, and it was so hard to get my workouts in like I wanted to. Just be okay with letting your body get the rest it needs so that you can get back to what you love!

It was such a yummy dinner! What a treat to have Cracker Jacks 🙂

I learned the hard way to let being sick run it’s course and not to push it. Our bodies are pretty good at letting us know what we need. The trick is actually listening 🙂 The chickpea spaghetti sounds so good. Off to check out the link.

You’re so right. I’m glad I listened to my body and decided not to do my long run this past weekend. Although listening to your body can sometimes be hard when you’re as stubborn as I am 🙂 lol
