So I am just going to come out and say it. I am not doing any formal meal planning until baseball season ends in a few weeks.
For the last month, whenever I’ve sat down and sketched out my plan, I have found myself penciling in “TBD” or “takeout” more times than I’d care to admit. It’s not for lack of trying, or lack of interest; as I’ve complained written about here before, it’s just the reality of our schedule in the spring.
For example, this week there are games on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45 pm, then I leave Thursday night for the Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival in Newton, MA (all of 40 minutes away) and don’t return home until late Saturday. So we’ll cook out today and make a quick and easy dinner on Tuesday, but that’s it, friends.
So I call uncle. At least temporarily.
Baseball ends in two weeks, school days will soon turn into camp days, and while I am under no illusion that this means our schedule will calm down, our weekdays will take on a more “traditional” feel.
Ooooh, and it just happens to coincide with the return of our farm share. Now that’s a way to return to meal planning!
And, yikes, my workout plan is even all over the place this week. I’m planning a 7 mile run this morning, Body Pump class on Monday and Wednesday morning, and an easy 2-3 mile run on Tuesday.
Later in the week? I am scheduled to run the Runner’s World “Five & Dime” on Saturday morning — a 5K and 10K — and I suspect the Runner’s World gang will get us bloggers out there sometime on Friday for some sort of shake-out run, but I haven’t seen our itinerary yet, so I’m not sure what it will look like. (Let’s just hope I can keep up! :>)
Anyway, that’s my crazy schedule for this week! What do you have planned? Anyone else planning to run any of the Runner’s World races next weekend?
