Happy National Running Day!
I think the graphic above really sums up how I feel about running. Over the last three or so years, running has become my outlet, my hobby, my much-needed “me” time, my way of staying in shape and pushing my physical limits. It has reignited that competitive fire I remember from my days of playing sports when I was younger, introduced me to some incredible people, and opened the door to many amazing opportunities. It helps me set a good example for my kids about the importance of physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle.
So today I celebrated by running a quick 4-miler at the gym early this AM. And I also thought I’d share a few random running tidbits:
- Women’s Running Magazine (one of my faves, although I may be a bit biased – lol!) is running a special deal, just for National Running Day — subscribe or renew today only for $1 an issue! That’s a sweet deal! Click here to take advantage of it!
- Today only, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is offering an event wide discount of up to $20 off race registration (that’s up to 25% off some races!) when you sign up today, June 4! Check out their website to find out if there is a race near you and to register.
- In two days, I’ll he heading up
to Boston College for the Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival! I am beyond excited to meet Shalane Flanagan, Bart Yasso and other running superstars … I hope I don’t geek out! Most importantly, I’m really looking forward to picking up some running tips and techniques — especially since I’ve never had a running coach before — AND pass them along to you!
And if you get a moment, check out some of the other running bloggers I’ll be hanging out with over the next few days … I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of them over the next few days on my Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feeds!
