Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! Our Christmas was a bit hectic, a blur of LEGOs, My Little Ponies and waaaaay too many sweets. And now it’s time for the next holiday …. New Year’s Eve!
Like most parents, our New Year’s Eve celebrations are just a tad different than our rockin’ shindigs as single twenty-somethings. More PJs than party frocks, movies than mojitos.
One show on our New Year’s “must see” list is the new Netflix original show “All Hail King Julien,” which is based on the character from the Madagascar franchise … you know, the lemur who sang the annoying-but-catchy “(I Like to) Move It” song (which Buddy was obsessed with for months).
Anyway, this new series (the first five episodes began airing on Netflix on Dec. 19) focuses on King Julien’s back story and ascension to the throne, where he took over from his predecessor, Uncle King Julien (voiced by the one and only Henry Winkler).
Along the way, King Julien takes on some crazy jungle adventures, along with his loyal sidekicks Maurice and Mort (voiced by Andy Richter, one of my favorites) plus a whole new cast of colorful animals.
Buddy and Mimi love the series so far. Not surprisingly (especially since King Julien is known to yell,”Hey, Party People!”), it’s full of upbeat music and silly antics and plenty of dancing. Plus it has the Fonz. Need I say more?
Speaking of party people, the awesome gang at Netflix recently surprised us with a super fun New Year’s Eve King Julien party kit that we will be using to celebrate 2015.
They also included suggestions for some yummy-sounding celebratory mocktails: Milk Flutes with Chocolate Chip Cookie Sticks and Homemade Apple Cider. Click here for the recipes!
Happy (almost) 2015!
