Happy Friday! Um, do we really have to spring our clocks forward this weekend?? It’s already pitch black when I head into the gym at 5am; now it will also be pitch black when I leave. Boo.
Anyway, enough complaining. I mean, it’s the weekend, right? 🙂 So on to this week’s Five for Friday (thanks to Clare for hosting the linkup):
ONE // Favorite dinner of the week: Brussel sprout fried rice (with some added tofu). Isa Chandra never fails to disappoint!
TWO // I can’t believe my 2014 racing season kicks off next weekend with the Shamrock Shuffle 5K! In some ways I feel soooooo ready, because that lag between late November and March –– when I typically don’t have any races –– seems to go on forever. But this winter has been so ridiculously cold and snowy, and I’ve run outside so infrequently, that I don’t feel ready at all, even though it’s “just” a 5K. Last year I finished in just under 26 minutes (25:55, to be exact), so I think my goal this time around will be to simply best that time (but I don’t think this is my sub-25 race).
THREE // I am planning to bake my first Irish soda bread this weekend (with caraway seeds and raisins, which has been insanely hard to find in our local bakeries, but is the kind I remember as a little girl). Anyone have a good recipe?
FOUR // Weekly confession: I enjoy listening to One Direction as much as my 7-year-old. If you don’t believe me, then you clearly haven’t heard the catchy song “Story of My Life,” which Buddy and I belt out at the top of our lungs in the car. Mimi calls it “Buddy’s song.”
FIVE // What’s making me happy this week: This video of Idina Menzel jamming with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots. I think my family is responsible for at least 100 of these YouTube views.

This is great! I pinned that Brussel Sprout Fried Rice Recipe, thanks for sharing! My father-in-law makes an amazing Irish Soda Bread from his mother’s recipe. Trying to see if I can track it down for you.

I wake up every morning with “Story of My Live” in my head!!! I don’t have a particular favorite YouTube vidoe at the moment, but my boys are stampylonghead addicts lately. They are driving me crazy! That voice!!

That song is always in my head too! I don’t have a favorite YouTube video either as I don’t watch much on there but I am watching Jimmy Fallon every day!
