Yep, you read the time stamp right. This is a Sunday night post.
I meant to write sooner but this was such a whirlwind weekend and before I knew it, it was Sunday night. So here I am.
The highlight of the weekend was Dr. G and I heading into Boston for 24 glorious, kid-free hours as we finally got around to celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary…albeit it three weeks late. There was good food, good wine, good company–and the extra bonus of being able to sleep in late this morning. Heavenly.
Big thanks and hugs to my mom for staying with the kiddos Saturday night. Buddy and Mimi were so excited to have Nana over for a sleepover!
Ironically, this month’s Netflix #StreamTeam theme is all about family. And right now, I’m so thankful for my family and to be fortunate enough to have them relatively nearby (an hour’s drive) and involved in my kids’ lives.
Not only did my mom spend the night with my kids (including an almost-four-year-old who had been quite defiant all week) so I could escape for some much-needed grown-up time, but my sister, niece and dad then drove up this afternoon in hopes of catching one of Buddy’s last baseball games of the season (which was eventually rained out. Boo.) But I was so grateful and touched that they made the effort. And in the end, we had a lovely rainy afternoon together.
Sure, we have our quirks and our faults, and there’s definitely drama and craziness at times, but what can I say, these are “my people” and I love them with all my heart. No one knows me like they do, and I’m the person-mom-wife-woman I am today because of them.
So in honor of families– which I know can involve everything from various combination of parents to half/step/full/adopted siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles/cousins, a pets, and close friends– here are some Netflix selections than celebrate families in all their uniquely quirky ways.
