Yesterday was one of those days when I looked at my schedule and groaned. Out loud. Because It looked something like this:
5am: Run 5 miles
8am: Drive 45 minutes, arrive at work
8am-4pm: Work, meetings, and more meetings.
4pm: Leave work early. Drive 45 minutes home.
4:50pm: Pick up Mimi at daycare
5pm: Pick up Buddy at afterschool
5:15pm: Deposit kids at cousin’s house for babysitting
5:30pm: Attend second grade open house
6:30pm: Inhale Subway sandwich in car in parking lot
7-8pm: Return to school to man PTO table at third grade open house
9:30pm: Pass out
Crazy, right? Okay, yes, I know I brought some of these obligations upon myself (my involvement on the PTO board is voluntary, of course), but I do all these things — work, volunteer, etc. — for my family … my kiddos especially. Because I want to provide for them. Because I want to make a difference in their schools. Because I want to be a good role model. Because working, while logistically challenging at times, helps keep me sane which, let’s face it, is good for my family.
Motivations aside, this schedule meant returning home yesterday to change clothes before the Open House was clearly not an option, and work was so busy that I didn’t have time to change there (and truthfully, I left closer to 4:10pm, which meant I had to really hustle home). So I had to be strategic about my clothing options — especially my shoes — knowing I was going to be running around all day, then standing on my feet for a good hour or so. But I also wanted to be stylish, too.
Believe it or not, I survived the whole day — and night! — wearing heels. Well, wedges to be precise. And I did not experience one blister, one aching heel, or one second of discomfort.
Don’t these just scream FALL? The color pictured here doesn’t do them justice; in person, they’re this gorgeous wine/burgundy color, and the bow detail is so cute. I personally love wearing wedge shoes to work because you get the height of a heel but they’re sooooooo much more comfortable than a traditional skinny heel, and these were great because the wedge was a medium height — not too high, not too low.
I got so many compliments on them, both at work and at the school, and each time I responded, “Thanks! They are the most comfortable shoes!” Which is totally true.
Although what else would you expect from Rockport — especially from a pump from their new Total Motion line, which focuses on lightweight, flexible and stable shoes that offer two of my favorite things: lasting support and comfort.
Oh, and did I mention they come complete with ADIPRENE® by adidas sport technology? Each shoe in the collection conforms to the shape of the foot for a personalized fit – giving the wearer that instant “AAAH” feeling. Which I certainly experienced yesterday.
Honestly, it felt like a cross between my running shoes and my slippers. But a heck of a lot cuter. It’s so refreshing not to have to sacrifice style for comfort!

My only complaint about the shoes — and it’s a teeny-tiny one –is that I’m not crazy about a silver adornment in one corner of the bow. Although I was happy to find that it didn’t “clash” when I wore gold jewelry, and as you can tell from the photos above, they’re barely even noticeable. Also, they are a bit on the pricey side (retailing for $140).
The Total Motion line has a bunch of different styles — more traditional pumps, boots, flats, etc. — that I’m now curious to try out, because any shoes that can withstand a 13 hour day are worth a look in my book!

My family powers me…but those shoes might help. I love the color and the wedge which makes me much less likely to fall!

Love how the wedges look with the dark jeans you’re wearing in the pic your son captured, and super impressed that you got through an entire day in comfort!

First off, love those wedges!!
Because of a bad knee, I can’t wear standard heels – but wedges do work!
I get through my day with coffee!
