Welcome! I’m Jessica, a working mom and freelance writer living in the Boston area with my husband, “Dr. G” and our two kids, 9-year-old “Buddy” and 4-year-old “Mimi.”
As a former journalist and lifelong writer, I started Keeping Mommy Sane as a creative outlet and to chronicle my attempts to juggle a full-time job, motherhood, marriage, fitness, living a healthy lifestyle … and (of course) my sanity.
I discovered my love for running back in 2011 after Mimi was born and I was looking to shed the baby weight. Since then, it has since become my outlet, my hobby and my much-needed “me” time. Over the last few years, I’ve completed six half marathons and countless other races, and I love knowing that I’m setting an example for both my kids about the importance of being physically active.
But running isn’t the only thing that keeps me “sane.” There’s also coffee. Writing. Morning cuddles in bed with my kiddos. Chocolate. Magazines. Travel. Fashion. Wine. My girlfriends. Audiobooks. Celebrity gossip. Re-runs of bad ’90s shows (especially Beverly Hills, 90210).
So that’s what I write about, these things that keep me “sane” amid the chaos. Yet the best part about Keeping Mommy Sane is how it’s opened doors and allowed me to share my journey and connect with a wonderful community of fellow parents, runners, bloggers, New Englanders…you name it. I love hearing from my readers, sofeel free to email me at jessica {at} keepingmommysane.com or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram.
I’ve also been fortunate over the last few years to work with some amazing companies and brands, along with serving as an ambassador for the Boston Red Sox, Netflix, Stonyfield, ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, and others.
