Saturdays in our house during the fall are insane. Because of our work schedules, we have to cram the kids’ activities into the weekends, which has somehow led to both kids having two activities each in the fall: soccer and karate for Buddy, and soccer and gymnastics for Mimi.
I know some people will roll their eyes at this, thinking we’re those parents who overschedule their kids with the hopes that it will get them into the Ivy Leagues or that we’re somehow trying to live vicariously through them or keep up with the Joneses.
Which is sort of laughable because the kids participate in these activities because they ask us to, and they understand that if they are no longer enjoying the activity, or it interferes too much with their schoolwork or rest, they can quit. And most importantly, they’re having fun.
So yes, it makes for a crazy morning, but I’m a soccer mom and proud of it.
Yet I do admit that with both kids having soccer back-to-back, I spend two hours each Saturday morning (not to mention an hour on Sunday) on the soccer fields, which requires a little planning. I usually pack a bag with snacks, extra layers of clothes, water bottles and — depending on how long it takes us to get out of the house in the morning — some breakfast for me.
This past weekend was absolutely gorgeous here in New England, so I threw on this Marin pullover top from prAna’s organic line (sans jacket!) and grabbed an apple and cinnamon Stonyfield Oh My Yog! yogurt (which tastes like apple pie and is like having dessert for breakfast) and spoon, and tossed them in my bag.
This is my first experience with prAna and now I totally get why there are so many devotees. There are so many things I love about this top. The print (hello, stripes, my fave). The cowl neck. The thumb holes. Plus it is so. freaking. comfy.
Even though it’s considered performance gear and has quick drying capabilities, I don’t know if I’d necessarily wear this running; maybe it’s because it’s too cute! But for sitting outside during a soccer game (or wearing as a top layer for barre class, which I did last week), it is perfection and works with both jeans and running capris or leggings.
I guess prAna isn’t kidding when they say their clothes can be worn for “every activity, every adventure, every day.”
