So while I was at Smugglers’ Notch last weekend, this happened.
OMG. OMG. OMG.
Honestly, there aren’t enough happy emojis for me to express my sheer excitement about this “Gilmore Girls” reboot.
But now I’m feeling greedy. If Netflix is already rebooting one of my all-time favorite shows (and that’s not even getting into “Fuller House,” which I won’t say I’m excited about, as much as I am curious), what other shows would I love to see them breathe new life into?
Here are 5 of them, including my suggestions on where the series could pick up from, just in case those network execs are listening 😉
- Parenthood. While the finale did give us a glimpse into the future, I’m thirsty for more of those crazy, lovely Bravermans. I don’t care if the reboot just shows them sitting around and having one of those raucous family dinners, or just sitting around and watching paint dry. Simply listening to their witty banter and enjoying their clear chemistry would be enough for me.
- Beverly Hills, 90210. Sorry, the CW’s pitiful attempt at a reboot (the ill-fated 90210) doesn’t count, except for the fact that it brought Brenda back from across the pond. Did Donna and David ever have kids? Did Kelly really choose herself? Is the Peach Pit still open? Who did Brandon eventually settle down with? Whatever happened with poor Andrea?
- My So-Called Life. ABC’s quick ax of this angsty, awesome show cheated all of us girls of many more years of swooning over Jordan Catalano and relating with Angela Chase (and wishing we had the guts to dye our hair that color. Ahhh, good ol’ Manic Panic). I would still love to see what happened to all of them. Maybe a reboot could take place their senior year, which would be, what, 1996? I’m always game for flannels and grunge.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Okay, this one is out of pure selfishness, because I thought that series finale was pretty damn awesome, but c’mon, doesn’t the idea of Buffy’s kid getting “called” to become a slayer sound fan-freaking-tastic?
- Sex and the City. I know there are two movies that came out after the show ended but, I don’t know, they just didn’t do it for me. I like Sex and the City in 30 minute nuggets. The extended storylines needed to fill a 2.5 hour movie seemed to kill some of what made that show so special. I want more of the fashion, the fabulousness of NYC, and — most importantly — the friendship of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte that was the beating heart of the show.
What would you add to this list?
