Hi, friends! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We survived our five day trek to Pennsylvania over Thanksgiving. No one got car sick. We didn’t hit any traffic (thanks to our decision to leave at 3am on Wednesday morning). Buddy and Mimi actually (gasped) played together and didn’t harass us to watch cartoons all weekend
Honestly, the one who had it the worst was poor Raven, who was the casualty of our decision to take our new car on the trip instead of our SUV like we usually do, and as a result, was crammed uncomfortably at Mimi’s feet the whole time (sorry, girl).
So instead of doing a full weekend recap, I thought I’d share 12 totally random observations from our Thanksgiving road trip:
1. Mimi has discovered the word “Sorry,”and believe me, she has definitely figured out how to use it to her advantage. Because she says it in a drawn out, singsong-y way (“Sorrreeee, Mama,”) with a twinkle in her eye.
2. My kids kicked my butt at bowling (okay, so to be fair, they did have bumpers in the gutters on their turns, but my 2-year-old still whupped my fanny quite handily.)
3. FROZEN is one of the best Disney movies I’ve seen in a long, long time.
4. Why don’t I get Sno-Caps more often as a movie treat? I. Love. Nonpareils.
5. Little girls + light-up Skechers + dark movie theater = bad idea.
6. Having a road race on a holiday weekend is a good way to make sure you get some exercise in between all the dessert and wine and sitting around. Didn’t have my best race but still glad I signed up for my first Turkey Trot.
7. I am trying really hard to enjoy running in the cold. Really, I am.
8. I would go completely and certifiably insane if I had to work at one of those indoor kids playspaces.
9. I am not a cat person.
10. I am beyond thrilled that Buddy has discovered the sheer hilarity that is Mad Libs.Watching him laugh hysterically to the point where he was crying when I read one of our masterpieces out loud might have been the highlight of my weekend.
11. Along the same lines, I love introducing movies I loved as a kid to Buddy. First “Labyrinth,” now “The Never-Ending Story.”
12. BYOB restaurants rule.
How was your Thanksgiving? Any random observations?

Great observations! I also love introducing movies to my kids. My husband has been showing our oldest (10) the Indiana Jones movies. He thinks they are fabulous! 🙂
